Griffiths on contest fire! Posted by Adam Griffiths / December 30,2008
Griffiths has been on fire for the last month on the contest scene!
Recently winning two British contests (British longboard union & jesus surf classic) & placing second on the european longboard tour (E.T.L) in morocco.
The last few months have been really hetic for Adam. He has travelled to a lot of places, flying to Morocco and driving the lengtht of the French coast, competing in a fair few contests. We managed to catch up with him to try and get a few words about what he has been up to. “ When the start of September comes it gets really hectic with contests happening nearly every weekend till the end of October.”
The first contest was in France where I took a 4th place on the E.T.L. After that I spent a few days surfing before driving back through France and on to Cornwall where the B.L.U was taking place over the weekend. I got back late on the Friday night slept in the van at the contest site and woke up to sunshine & better waves than we had in France the previous week. I ended up winning the contest, so all that driving didnt seem so bad after all! Photos and More info can be found on www.british-longboard-union.co.uk
About two weeks later it was time for me to pack my surf boards again & jet off for Morocco for the european tour. Great place, amazing waves! I made the final and had snapped my board within the 2 minutes, so had to get out change boards fins leash. Which cut my time short in the final. I managed to hunt down two waves which is all I needed and got a 2nd place, best result of the year so far. Over to Europe Posted by Adam Griffiths / October 02,2008
I'm about to head to Europe for the second leg of the European Longboard Tour.
I'm really excited for this part of the tour as France normally has really good waves at this time of the year & the weather fingers crossed can't be any worse than it has been in England.
Last year I finished 3rd overall so would like to finish in the top 3 again, ideally number one. but we shall see as there is still 3 more contests to after these two in france. But im feeling confident I Have just changed my board shaper i still ride skindog surfboard but Chris Harris now shapes the boards and they look amazing I pick up my new boards tomorrow then straight into the van and up to the ferry port for the night crossing.
So when do these contests start? How many contests are there in total on the tour!
The french contests start on the 6th/7th of September and then the following weekend 13th/14th. Then we have a few weeks off then down too Morocco for 4th/5th October. Few more weeks off then the final leg off the tour which is in portugal on the 25th/26th October & 1st/ 2nd of November. The contests work on the best 5 results out of the 6 contests wins.
There has all ready been one contest in jersey UK in July where I finished 7th, so I'm looking to better that.
