Off to Rockingham
Posted by Alex Jones / May 08,2008

Am just off to Rockingham to test new car. I have moved to Kevin Mills Racing, one of the top Formula Ford teams, and will be driving a Spectrum car - can't wait to try it out. There will be something about it in Motorsport News next week.

Meantime, report from Brands below...

Brands Hatch 3/4 May - Alex comes back with solid results puttinghim back into contention for the Scholarship Championship. This followsthe extremely disappointing round at Croft which was beset withmechanical problems. Two retirements from mechanical failures andunable to start the third race saw his 41 point Championship lead inthe Scholarship class disappear overnight as he slipped back to thirdplace. However, a good qualifying at Brands followed by two 3rd placefinishes in the Scholarship class has put himback up to 2nd place and once again in contention for the lead, although this time with a 41 point deficit! Hard work follows then inthe next rounds ...........Rockingham on the 26th May.

Alex brings silverware home
Posted by Alex Jones / April 08,2008

Here is a recent report from one of our team Racing Drivers, Alex Jones' formula ford race where he ended up collecting some silverware. The 2008 Formula Ford season kicked off at Oulton Park over the Easter weekend, running alongside the Formula 3 meeting. Alex racing in his "rookie" year in the Scholarship class had to start from the pit-lane in the first of the weekends races after his car developed a minor fault.

He was making his way up the order, when the race was red-flagged following an accident. Nevertheless, he finished 15th overall, and 3rd in his class. In the second race he started well and after establishing himself in the lead of his class, he began to draw away to finish 1st in class, 13th overall, and set the fastest lap in the closing stages to grab the extra point!

Afterwards he said "It was good, once I made a break I was able build up a nice cushion and then control the gap." The 3rd and final race saw a brilliant start from Alex - from 13th on the grid he took two over the start line with another on the straight going up to Island bend. Up to 10th and close on the next runners as he approached Druid's ....alas, he caught the tail end of a collision that caused the car in front to spin, hitting Alex.

Although he was still running he could feel damage to the back end and brought the car into pit lane, so a retirement for that one. Despite the setbacks, a good weekend overall and looking forward to the next round at Knockhill in two weeks'.

Alex thanks the Myerscough Team who worked hard over the weekend, undeterred by the difficult and draughty conditions. Finally, a big "Thank You" to all Alex's friends and supporters who turned out in force on a very cold and windy March weekend. Alex Jones has been a Gumball 3000 team member since last Summer.

Blog by Audrey on behalf of Alex
Posted by Alex Jones / January 10,2008

Happy New Year to you and Best wishes for 2008. I'm posting on behalf of Alex as he is currently at the Autosports show in the NEC. He is participating in the Formula Ford race events in the live area - 1 race each day Thursday and Friday with 5 races each on Saturday and Sunday.

In between he will doing his PR bit for the Team, both at the stand and circulating around the exhibition wearing his Gumball gear!
Will send you an update following the event with any good pics.

Testing starts again in a couple of weeks so there will more news to send you. An interesting highlight of this year's racing calendar is the June race which is being held in Spa - looking forward to that one! Might be able to build a much needed break around that.

Remember to keep checking Alex's website as I update that regularly with news, pics, etc. Also let me know of anything you want promoting on there, in addition to the links to your websites that we are already carrying.

Kind Regards

Audrey

Race programme is almost finalised
Posted by Alex Jones / December 19,2007

I am still awaiting the testing schedule for next year and race programme is almost finalised. Will be ten race meetings between March and November. First one is at Oulton Park on 24th/25th March. Formula Ford is the support race to Formula 3, so will have high profile and TV coverage by Sky Sports 1, 2, & 3, repeated four times with average viewing of 150,000 people.

Not much action since finishing karting season in October - award ceremony coming up in January at the Autosports event in NEC. I was at the Formula Ford sampler day at Silverstone on 5th December. Poured with rain so track was very wet. My first time at the circuit and first time in the car in the wet, but went really well. Put in good times and had a fantastic day - can't wait for next season to start. Couple of photos attached.

Will be testing from January so not much to report until then. Am going to the gym 3/4 times a week to keep in shape and also running a lot. Will send you the full schedules as soon as I receive them - should be early Jan. Meantime, check out my website: www.alexjonesracing.com

2008 calendar of races is on plus all the history, reports, photos, etc.

Meantime, have a great Christmas and Best Wishes for 2008.
Alex
