BOND PLATE GOES UNDER THE HAMMER 04.06.2009 Rally, Motoring News
OK, so there was one less Aston Martin in the world after this year's rally, but there’s still sure to be a bun fight for a James Bond inspired number plate that's currently up for auction. With a reserve price of just £900, one lucky (and probably loaded) Bond fan will wheel spin away with a number plate reading A007SPY. The sought-after registration is to go under the hammer this week at the DVLA Personalised Registrations auction at Wychwood Park, Cheshire.
Although a Bondophile is sure to pay a premium price for the plate, auctioneers are expecting to secure an even higher amount for the registration number 3 O. Earlier this year plates 1 O and 2 O sold for £210,242 and £142,249 respectively.
Also up for grabs is 7 T with its £10,000 reserve. However, this cherished plate is not expected to beat the whopping amount paid for 1 D at a previous DVLA auction in March. Following a fiercely fought bidding war, the two-digit registration topped out at £352,411 to a Lebanese businessman.
If you can’t afford a bid on the Bond plate you can still get your 007 and star car fix by clicking on the links below lovingly put together by Channel 4’s 4car website.
