With a new album just dropping and the classic mix CD he compiled for ukhh.com behind him it's high time to catch up again with K-Delight so we got Robster from The Chaos skate crew to get the lowdown on the ‘AUDIO REVOLUTION’...
So Chris it’s been a while since we're heard from you, Let's find out what’s been going on in the world of K-Delight...
For the last couple of years I’ve had tunnel vision with this album ‘Audio Revolution’. This has been my one and only focus! To finally see it with the finished artwork and sleeve ready to go is such a good feeling it’s hard to explain. People who have released albums will know exactly what I mean when I say I have lived, slept and dreamed this moment for so long. I know it sounds corny and all that but bollocks to it, I take my hat off to anyone who has done this as it really is a test on your soul. You are literally in your own little bubble for years trying to justify to yourself why you are doing this and I really can say I’m glad I did this and am 100% happy with the outcome, it is the best thing I have done and couldn’t have done it without The Voodoo Guru, Royce Rolls, Evil Ed, Alex Young and all the guests who that have put their heart and soul into it too.
You moved north from Brighton to Darlington, Why was that?
Brighton is an amazing place for clubs, pubs and nuts but I felt like it was time to settle down a bit and buy somewhere back home where I can build a studio and have a base from where I can work from. The landlords down there take your eyeballs out and the idea of buying is out of the question unless you don’t mind spending 200K on a 2 bed flat that only your pets could fit in? I love Brighton and still go down as much as possible to see friends and hang out at Rarekind etc, but it is good to be back home in the sunny north!
I understand you’ve been back to college?
Yep, I always wanted to go back into education and decided to do electrics. I was in college full time for 2 years. I picked this subject as I always had an interest in fixing and wiring things but I probably wasn’t doing it right. It wasn’t what I expected though, I thought it would be much more hands on and practical but there was loads of theory that included maths that even Jonny Ball would have said bollocks to! I’m glad I did it and it’s always something I can fall back on. I’m thinking of eventually getting a small van and calling my company Electro Shock! Think that might put people off though?
How did the sponsorship with Gumball come about?
A friend of mine Paul runs the local Snowboard/Skate shop ‘The Chaos’ in Darlington and he deals with a lot of the reps from various clothing companies etc. I’ve got a lot to thank him for as he always passes a cd of mine onto these guys to listen to while they’re on the road. The rep from Gumball who is a pro skater loved the cd, he said they are looking for new artists to sponsor and that what I was doing would really fit into the Gumball brand. Its really exciting because the new Gumball website is just about finished and looks insane, I have a page on there which has regular updates and videos for people to check out. Plus I loved the film Canonball Run which was the main inspiration for the Gumball 3000 coming together in the first place.
